Robert Nelson

Director of Operations

Robert Nelson is a seasoned leader in automation, controls engineering, and industrial operations starting his career in Southeastern Michigan in 1997.

Nelson holds an MS in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Automated Manufacturing Engineering from Lake Superior State University. He further honed his expertise with a Wharton Executive Education program in Finance & Accounting.

As Director of Operations at Patti Engineering, Nelson oversees project execution and team management, driving growth and operational excellence in delivering controls, robotics, and advanced digitalization solutions to help manufacturers improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).  Previously, at JR Automation, he led cross-functional engineering teams and spearheaded process improvements. At Ford Motor Company, he managed powertrain automation projects across multiple sites, specializing in Siemens PLCs, robotics, and lean manufacturing. His earlier career at General Motors focused on industrial controls, factory automation, and IT-driven manufacturing solutions, establishing his expertise in strategic operations, financial analysis, and engineering leadership.

Nelson excels in strategic operations, industrial automation, project management, and financial analysis. His leadership bridges engineering innovation with business strategy, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and cutting-edge solutions.
