Abby Engle: Kettering University Co-op
Patti Engineering would like to recognize Abby Engle for her dedication and hard work as the A-Section Co-op. Abby has been working with Patti Engineering through the Co-op program at Kettering University for three years and will graduate after the next term with her Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. The Co-op program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience while they complete their classes. Abby is an excellent student and is learning a lot from the Patti Engineering team by assisting with on-site installs and IT issues, as well as working on various projects in the office.
During her time with Patti Engineering, Abby has contributed to the on-site installations for several LEID Products projects, and is currently working on her thesis. LEID Products is a division of Patti Engineering that provides advanced biometric and electronically accessible asset storage solutions. For her thesis, Abby is developing the engineering for solar-powered kiosks, which would likely be used in library applications. Using solar energy provides more flexibility pertaining to where the kiosks could be placed.
“Abby’s attitude and enthusiasm make her a great asset to the Patti Engineering and LEID Products teams,” said CEO Sam Hoff. “Throughout her career with us, Abby has been able to materially contribute to our product development efforts. We are proud to support the Kettering University Co-op program.”
Growing up in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Abby was raised a true Detroit Tigers fan, and she makes a point to catch a few home games every summer. Abby has two dogs that she loves to spend time with, named George and Cleo. She loves hiking, and is an avid disc golfer, often taking her dogs out to local courses. She reports that George likes to chase the discs, but Cleo is usually too busy chasing squirrels. Aside from appreciating the outdoors, Abby enjoys traveling. Her most recent adventure took her to the tropical Bahamas, where she enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful weather.
When asked what she likes the best about working at Patti Engineering, Abby says it’s the people. She stated, “Being part of the team at Patti Engineering doesn’t feel like working at a large corporation. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. I’ve learned a lot so far in my career here, and I look forward to gaining even more experience once I graduate.”
She jokes, “Working at Patti Engineering has taught me quite a few things, but the most important thing I’ve learned is that everyone loves lunch.”
