Patti Perspective 2019 November- Solving Obsolescence with a Virtual Machine

Resource Type: Newsletters | November 9, 2019

Facing the challenge of obsolescence in Phoenix Contact VLC systems, Patti Engineering developed a creative interim solution to extend their customer’s facility usage despite upcoming obsolescence hurdles. Hardware errors were plaguing production, and the operating system was rapidly becoming obsolete. We upgraded the VLC system and shifted controls to a virtual machine (VM) on a server, eliminating hardware dependencies and enabling remote recovery. By upgrading hardware and making these changes, we ensured a smooth-running facility, all at a fraction of the cost of a complete controls conversion. If you’re dealing with a similar issue, we have a solution ready for you.
